Circular Economy
Management
Embracing the New Business Paradigm,
from Theory to Practice
Connecting
Sustainable
Minds
The European Institute of Innovation for Sustainability is a place where education, research and experimentation come together to achieve environmental, social and economic sustainability via innovative solutions.
At EIIS, there are no professors nor students, only people striving to make learning an engaging activity defined by continuous interaction
Here, we believe that there is no sustainability without innovation.
Why a Master in
Circular Economy Management?
500 billion tonnes of resources have been consumed globally, over the past six years.
70% of virgin materials have been extracted, after we exceeded Earth's restorative capacity in 2016. Per year, only 8.6% of these resources makes it back into our economy.
The current linear economic model consumes 100 billion tonnes of materials per year and wastes over 90% of them. *
The shortage of raw materials and the consequent increase in their prices combined with the current climate and geopolitical crises have dramatically impacted the economy on a global scale.
In a scenario so complex, to move towards a sustainable future, we need innovative tools and better ways of producing and consuming. In other words, we need to start thinking circularly and implement a self regenerative, sustainability-conscious, economic model: the Circular Economy.
As a growing number of individuals, companies and institutions are joining this system, we are steadily moving from a linear to a circular economy.
Nonetheless, achieving a complete transition will require a continuous and communal effort.
The Circular Economy is more than recycling and reusing. It relies on 5 pillars:
Product as a service
Sustainable input
Life extension
Recycle & Reuse
Companies that began adopting circular practices are performing better than their competitors, stimulating growth and creating a more sustainable organizational culture.
Moreover, the Circular Economy provides a major opportunity for employment and career advancement. The demand for trained professionals who can adapt and apply the latest operational tools is now high and will continue to grow in the coming years.
Therefore, understanding how the Circular Economy works and acquiring a circular mindset has become essential to succeed in the job market.
During this 12-month program, you will work with our experts, to tackle complex environmental problems and explore different topics - including but not limited to, Circular Thinking, Technological and Sustainable Innovation, Waste Management, Marketing and Communication Strategies.
We firmly believe in the importance of circularity as a mindset.
This Master's Program aims at promoting and transferring this circular way of thinking to its participants, to drastically change their mindset.

Our Approach
Challenge Based Learning
Traditional learning methods are typically influenced by various aspects that are not always engaging in a multilevel classroom. This is why EIIS adopts Challenge Based Learning, a learning methodology that starts from a real problem and engages participants to solve a challenge.
The challenge stimulates the process of sharing new ideas, applying one's personal strengths in a collaborative environment which as a result makes learning fun and inspiring.
Our Programs
We structure our programs with one common goal: connecting people, ideas, and resources to further discuss how we can achieve sustainable development in different areas.
Using an innovative teaching method, EIIS prepares students to face future challenges, making them skilled and mindful individuals. Entering a world of innovation for sustainability and gaining the skills and tools to acquire a sustainable mindset.

EIIS strives to be benchmark for innovate and sustainable education. So, it gathers great minds to work together in continuous, tireless and exciting pursuit of excellence.
The EIIS method can be defined by the 6 Es:
Engagement
High-quality content can easily get lost if it fails to capture the attention and curiosity of the participants . Creating a rapport with the audience is the greatest challenge when a screen (real or metaphorical) is placed between the speaker and participants. The difference between online and offline dynamics is comparable to that of theatre against that of television. These are similar entertainments with very different timings and modalities of fruition.
Education
To achieve sustainability, it is necessary to innovate not only our production processes or our energy supply systems but also ourselves and our understanding of the world. Thus, education becomes a fundamental part of our journey toward a sustainable future. One that is prompted by curiosity and the desire to share with others our abilities, knowledge, and skills.
Exchange
Online situations make interactions difficult, not only because of technical issues (e.g. problems with connection, audio, video) but also because people may feel hidden away behind their screens and can get used to not being ‘seen’. To force participants out of their comfort zone, to encourage them to partake in the online class actively, and ultimately benefit from the learning experience, digital interactions must include instant polls, Q&A sessions, or pre-circulated materials.
Entertainment
If learning is a journey in which everyone is called upon to participate, this journey can only happen through fun and entertainment.
Delivering content effectively online is a challenge. To succeed, it is necessary to capture the listeners’ attention and curiosity through innovative educational methods.
Exploration
Trying to copy and translate in-person methods online is a mistake, as it usually results in a frustrated audience. This is why we decided to change our teaching methods. We design our online courses as if the physical world did not exist; we do this by capitalizing on the strengths of the digital world and not simply replicating in-person sessions.
Efficiency
Therefore, a successful digital transition requires not only new tecnical skills but different designing.
The roles of ‘director’ or ‘moderator’ are now crucial to a successful online class.
